Position Overview:
This role as a Taxation Legal Intern involves collaboration with the Tax Counsel team within the Tax Department, requiring a commitment of approximately 15 hours per week.

Academic Flexibility:
This position is available during the Fall and Spring Semesters, allowing for flexibility to accommodate academic obligations.

Responsibilities:
The Tax Counsel team is tasked with offering guidance and insights on various tax implications affecting the Company and its subsidiaries. This includes addressing known, potential, or hypothetical tax scenarios, as well as monitoring legislative changes that may influence federal, state, local, and international taxation. Key areas of focus include:
1. Tax planning
2. Mergers and acquisitions
3. Litigation matters
4. Employee benefits
5. State and local tax issues
6. International tax considerations
7. Tax credit investments
8. Economic incentives and tax benefits

Key Functions:
The primary role of the Taxation Legal Intern is to assist the Tax Counsel team and the Director of Tax Counsel in delivering top-tier advice and strategies concerning the aforementioned tax areas. Specific duties include:
- Conducting legal research across all relevant tax areas
- Participating in various projects within the Tax Counsel domain
- Collaborating with team members while independently managing assigned tasks
- Maintaining confidentiality regarding sensitive information
- Developing a comprehensive understanding of taxation principles and the Company’s operational framework
- Building relationships with personnel across the Tax Department and the broader organization

Qualifications:
Required:
- Candidates must have completed two years of a Juris Doctorate program at an accredited law school.
- A Bachelor's degree is mandatory.

Preferred:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or completion of tax-related coursework.

Skills and Experience:
Required:
- Proficiency in legal research and writing
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective communication abilities
- A collaborative team-oriented mindset

Preferred:
- Previous experience in public accounting, law firms, or corporate internships.

Technical Skills:
Required:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Word and Excel
- Experience with online tax research tools (e.g., Lexis, Checkpoint, Bloomberg)
