By fostering trust in a safe and nurturing environment, we assist those we serve in finding a future filled with achievement, dignity, happiness, and hope.Position Summary:The Skilled Maintainer at Ädelbrook is responsible for ensuring the upkeep of the buildings, grounds, furniture, vehicles, and other properties owned or leased by the organization, adhering to OSHA safety regulations and standards set by various licensing and accrediting bodies. This role reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and is classified as a full-time, non-exempt position. The tier level is determined by the range of expertise and technical skills possessed.Key Responsibilities:
  • Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and Lead Maintenance Foreman, the individual will maintain all agency buildings and perform necessary repairs. Proficiency in two or more of the following areas is required:
    • Electrical systems
    • Plumbing
    • Carpentry
    • Heating and air-conditioning
    • Welding
    • Automotive mechanics
    • Small engine repair
  • Responsible for the maintenance of agency property and equipment, including vehicles, tractors, lawn mowers, snow removal equipment, and cleaning devices. Ensures cleanliness and organization within the Maintenance Department and associated offices.
  • Oversees the upkeep of agency grounds, which includes tasks such as lawn care, shrub planting and maintenance, snow removal, furniture repair, and painting. Assists with sanitation control as needed.
  • Reviews all maintenance requests received and independently addresses those work orders for which qualified. More complex work orders are referred to the Maintenance Supervisor or Lead Maintenance Foreman.
  • Conducts weekly inspections for broken locks, burnt-out bulbs, and other damages requiring repair.
  • May be required to be on-call for additional duties.
  • Supervises part-time and temporary maintenance staff, including youth in residence assigned for work experience, as directed.
  • Exemplifies role modeling at all times while on duty and in interactions with the children served.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Lead Maintenance Foreman.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or Technical School certification is required, along with two years of experience in a similar role or trade necessary to fulfill the skill requirements listed above.
  • Must be capable of lifting at least 50 pounds and performing physical tasks such as bending, climbing ladders, reaching, stooping, and kneeling.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and insurance as per agency requirements. Ability to operate agency vehicles, including vans, automobiles, and other equipment such as riding lawn mowers, is essential.
