Facilities Maintenance Specialist

- Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and Lead Maintenance Foreman, the individual will maintain all agency buildings and perform repairs as necessary. The role requires specific skills in two or more of the following areas:
- Electrical systems
- Plumbing
- Carpentry
- Heating and air-conditioning
- Welding
- Automotive mechanics
- Small engine repair
- Responsible for maintaining agency property and equipment, including vehicles, tractors, lawn care equipment, and cleaning devices. Ensures cleanliness and organization within the Maintenance Department and offices.
- Oversees the maintenance of agency grounds, including tasks such as lawn care, shrub planting and maintenance, snow removal, furniture repair, and painting. Assists with sanitation control as needed.
- Reviews all maintenance requests received. Independently provides services for work orders that fall within the scope of qualifications. Refers more complex work orders to the Maintenance Supervisor or Lead Maintenance Foreman.
- Conducts weekly checks for broken locks, burnt-out bulbs, and damage requiring repair.
- May be required to be on-call for additional duties.
- Supervises part-time and temporary maintenance staff, including youth in residence assigned for work experience, as directed.
- Exhibits exemplary role modeling at all times while on duty and in interactions with the children served.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Lead Maintenance Foreman.
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or Technical School certification is required, along with two years of experience in a similar position or trade necessary to successfully meet the skill requirements outlined above.
- Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds and able to lift, bend, climb ladders, reach, stoop, and kneel while performing duties and responsibilities.
- Must maintain a valid driver's license and insurance through the agency's insurance provider. Must be able to operate agency vehicles, including vans, automobiles, and pick-up trucks, as well as other agency equipment such as riding lawn mowers.
