The Harmony Healthcare Long Island, previously recognized as Long Island Federally Qualified Health Center (LIFQHC), is a non-profit healthcare organization operating multiple health centers that offer primary care and preventive services across various locations.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
1. Warmly greet, assist, and guide patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
2. Manage patient check-in, registration, and check-out processes.
3. Instruct patients or guardians on necessary documentation for visits and verify demographic and billing information for accuracy on subsequent visits.
4. Collect patient demographic and insurance details, confirm insurance eligibility, and accurately input information into the electronic health record.

5. Explain all registration forms to patients, obtain necessary signatures on consents and acknowledgments, and ensure all completed forms are scanned into the electronic health record.

6. Navigate insurance portals and interpret coverage details such as plan descriptions, copayments, and primary care providers.

7. Verify if referrals or pre-authorizations are needed for medical visits.
8. Assist patients in changing their primary care providers as needed.
9. Enroll eligible patients in the sliding scale program and enter all required information into the electronic record.
10. Collect and process payments due for visits and complete daily cash reconciliation.
11. Schedule patient appointments based on established criteria.
12. Conduct appointment reminder calls and follow up on no-show appointments.
13. Handle a high volume of incoming calls on a multi-line phone system, ensuring all calls are managed politely and professionally.
14. Communicate and coordinate with physicians and clinical staff to facilitate timely patient care.
15. Record and relay messages to appropriate staff members.
16. Open, sort, and distribute mail and faxes.
17. Perform additional clerical tasks such as filing, photocopying, and scanning medical records.
18. Provide coverage in other departments or health centers as required.
19. Undertake other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Bilingual in English and Spanish/Creole required.
3. Proficient in computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office & Outlook).
4. Strong customer service and communication skills.
5. Ability to multitask and pay attention to detail.
6. One (1) year of clerical experience in a medical environment preferred.
7. Knowledge of health insurance verification, authorization, and/or billing required.

SALARY:
Commensurate with experience
