Nassau County Locations:
Roosevelt, Elmont, Hempstead, Freeport, Oceanside, and New Cassel/Westbury.
Additionally, Harmony Healthcare Long Island operates 3 school-based health centers, WIC offices (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children) in 3 locations, and a Health Home Care Coordination program.
As federally qualified health centers, we cater to individuals in our communities, providing enhanced services, extended hours, and reduced prescription costs, while elevating the standard of care.

POSITION TITLE:
Front Desk Receptionist
REPORTS TO:
Practice Manager
The following statements outline the general duties, responsibilities, and competencies deemed necessary to perform the essential functions of this role and should not be interpreted as a comprehensive description of all work requirements for this position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Warmly greets, assists, and directs patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
2. Manages patient check-in, registration, and check-out processes.
3. Instructs patients/guardians on necessary documentation for visits. During follow-up visits, verifies demographic and billing information for accuracy.
4. Collects patient demographic and insurance details, verifies insurance eligibility, and accurately enters information into the electronic health record.
5. Provides patients with clear explanations of all registration forms, obtains necessary signatures on required consents and acknowledgments, and scans all completed registration forms into the electronic health record.
6. Navigates insurance portals and accurately interprets coverage details such as plan descriptions, copayments, primary care providers, etc.
7. Confirms whether a referral or pre-authorization for medical necessity is required for visits.8. Assists patients in changing their primary care provider if applicable.
9. Enters eligible patients into the sliding scale program and records all necessary information in the electronic health record.
10. Collects and processes payments due for visits and completes the daily cash reconciliation process.
11. Schedules patient appointments based on criteria established by the health center.
12. Conducts appointment reminder calls and follows up on no-show calls.
13. Manages a high volume of incoming calls on a multi-line phone system, handling all calls professionally and referring them to the appropriate staff member.
14. Communicates and coordinates with physicians and/or clinical staff to ensure timely patient care.
15. Records and relays messages to the appropriate staff member.
16. Opens, sorts, and distributes mail and faxes.
17. Performs additional clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, and scanning of medical records.
18. Provides coverage in other departments or health centers as needed.
19. Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Bilingual in English and Spanish/Creole required.
3. Proficient computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office & Outlook).
4. Strong customer service and communication skills.
5. Ability to multitask and pay attention to detail.
6. One (1) year of clerical experience in a medical setting preferred.
7. Knowledge of health insurance verification, authorization, and/or billing required.
SALARY:
Commensurate with experience.
