About the Role

The Touro University New York seeks a seasoned professional to serve as the Associate Vice President of Institutional Advancement. This key leadership position will play a pivotal role in driving the university's fundraising and alumni relations strategy, fostering a culture of philanthropy within the institution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Development: Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies, including identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gifts from a portfolio of high-potential donors.
  • Portfolio Management: Manage a portfolio of new prospects and lapsed donors, focusing on gifts of $18,000 and above, with an expectation of a minimum of five one-on-one visits per month.
  • Graduway Platform: Assist with the implementation of the Graduway platform and serve as the liaison between Graduway and the schools, ensuring seamless integration into the alumni program.
  • Consultation and Advice: Provide consultation and advice on all fundraising activities with Touro IA team members, ensuring alignment with the university's goals and objectives.
  • Event Coordination: Collaborate closely with other professionals to enhance the event experience for donors and prospects, playing a pivotal role in the coordination of individual events with a major fundraising component.
  • Social Marketing Strategy: Contribute significantly to the development and implementation of a social marketing strategy, including website e-philanthropy and direct mail in schools.
Alumni Affairs
  • Targeted Portfolio: Identify and manage a targeted portfolio database of alumni with the aim of soliciting major gifts through an ongoing program in consultation with the central IA office.
Communications
  • Presentation Development: Collaborate closely with the Communications and Marketing Department to create necessary presentations for major gift donors.
  • Public Representation: Speak on behalf of the institution at events, or other public functions when necessary.
Administration
  • Leadership and Direction: Provide leadership and direction to the Institutional Advancement team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment in consultation with the VP/IA.
  • Budget Management: Take a leading role in developing and managing budgets for fundraising and alumni relations initiatives.
  • Performance Evaluation: Monitor and evaluate team performance against established goals with the EVP and VP.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of fundraising strategies and processes.
  • Prospect and Donor Research: Conduct prospect and donor research using any and all available search engines or systems.
Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 15 years of experience in fundraising with significant successes in closing major gifts of $100,000 and above.
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong leadership abilities with a focus on team development and motivation. Excellent communication skills for engaging with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to interact effectively with diverse constituencies, including donors and university leadership. Strategic thinker with a track record of achieving ambitious goals.
