Position: Maritime Project Lead

Objective:

  • We are currently seeking a Project Lead to provide essential support to Senior Leadership and Fleet Operations, based in Virginia Beach, VA.

Role Description:

  • The ideal candidate will be a proactive and enthusiastic Site Foreman / Project Lead with AIT experience, ready to make a significant impact in our Norfolk VA and San Diego CA offices.
  • Your primary responsibility will involve collaboration with Continental Tide Program Managers, Project Managers, and Project Team Staff.
  • A solid background in the operation, installation, repair, modification, and maintenance of Naval HM&E or Electronic systems and equipment is essential, including supervision of technical support for Alteration/SC installation, maintenance, and repair of HM&E ship systems.
  • Proficiency in executing ship Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E) or electronic system projects is highly desirable.
  • Direct experience with the Navy is a crucial requirement.
  • The Project Lead should demonstrate expertise as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in a specific industrial discipline, such as Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical, while possessing a comprehensive understanding of other disciplines to effectively plan and execute project plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Execution: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of shipboard HM&E or electronic system projects, ensuring compliance with quality, budget, and timeline standards.
  • Technical Expertise: Utilize extensive knowledge of power generation, power transmission, and auxiliary machinery systems to provide technical guidance and ensure project specifications are met.
  • Team Leadership: Lead cross-functional project teams, promoting a collaborative and results-oriented work atmosphere. Offer mentorship and support to team members as necessary.
  • Quality Assurance: Establish and manage quality assurance processes to ensure the delivery of superior ship systems.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular project status updates to senior management, emphasizing key accomplishments, challenges, and upcoming milestones.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or training in ship repair or a related field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Site Foreman or in a similar role within AIT ship repair.
  • Familiarity with shipboard systems and equipment.
  • Understanding of safety regulations and practices.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to travel and work in various locations as needed.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience overseeing and directing 'Project-Level' initiatives.
  • Proven capability to lead a team of 5 to 10 tradespersons in an Alteration Installation Team (AIT).
  • Experience in managing daily production to meet schedule milestones.
  • Knowledge of maintaining QAWB and OQE requirements.
  • Experience in direct communication with management, subcontractors, and clients regarding project costs, staffing, and scheduling.
  • Proficient in preparing status reports and ensuring adherence to contract specifications.
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and achieve goals.

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with ship alteration/installation processes and procedures.
  • Strong project management abilities, including planning, execution, and timely delivery of projects.

Security Requirements:

  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance for access to military facilities, naval shipyards, private shipyards, and Naval installations.
  • Due to export control regulations, this position is open to U.S. citizens only.

Travel Requirements:

  • Occasional travel of up to 10% within and outside the continental United States.
  • If travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases is required, candidates must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate identification credentials.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, carry, and transport heavy equipment and boxes, with a minimum weight requirement of 30 lbs.
  • Capability to work on and climb ladders, operate in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions, and in confined spaces.
