Position Title: Maritime Project Lead
Objective:
- Continental Tide is actively seeking a Project Lead to provide essential support to Senior Leadership and Fleet Operations. This role is based in Virginia Beach, VA.
Role Description:
- The ideal candidate will be a proactive and enthusiastic Site Foreman / Project Lead with AIT experience, ready to make a significant impact in our Norfolk VA and San Diego CA offices.
- This position requires effective collaboration with Continental Tide Program Managers, Project Managers, and Project Team Staff.
- A solid background in the operation, installation, repair, modification, and maintenance of Naval Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) or electronic systems is essential, including overseeing technical support for alterations and installations.
- The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in executing initiatives related to ship HM&E or electronic system projects.
- Direct experience with the Navy is a critical requirement.
- The Project Lead must exhibit proficiency as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in a specific industrial discipline, such as Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical, while possessing a comprehensive understanding of other relevant disciplines to effectively plan and execute project objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning and Management: Direct and manage the planning, execution, and completion of shipboard HM&E or electronic system projects, ensuring compliance with quality standards, budget constraints, and timelines.
- Technical Leadership: Utilize extensive knowledge of power generation, transmission, and auxiliary machinery systems to provide technical direction and ensure project specifications are fulfilled.
- Team Management: Lead cross-functional project teams, promoting a collaborative and results-oriented work atmosphere. Offer mentorship and support to team members as necessary.
- Quality Control: Establish and oversee quality assurance protocols to ensure the delivery of superior ship systems.
- Reporting Duties: Prepare and deliver regular project status updates to senior management, emphasizing key accomplishments, challenges faced, and upcoming objectives.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or training in ship repair or a related field is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience as a Site Foreman or in a similar capacity within AIT ship repair.
- Familiarity with shipboard systems and equipment.
- Understanding of safety regulations and practices.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Willingness to travel and work in various locations as needed.
- 5 to 7 years of experience leading and directing project-level initiatives.
- Proven capability to manage a team of 5 to 10 tradespeople in an Alteration Installation Team (AIT).
- Experience in overseeing daily production to meet scheduling milestones.
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance Workbooks (QAWB) and Other Quality Evidence (OQE) requirements.
- Experience in direct communication with management, subcontractors, and clients regarding project costs, staffing, and scheduling.
- Ability to rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and achieve goals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with ship alteration and installation processes and procedures.
- Strong project management capabilities, including planning, execution, and timely delivery of projects.
Security Requirements:
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance for access to military facilities, naval shipyards, and private shipyards.
- This position is restricted to U.S. citizens due to export control regulations.
Travel Requirements:
- Occasional travel, up to 10%, may be required within and outside the continental United States.
- Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID, if travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases is necessary.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, carry, and transport heavy equipment and materials, with weight requirements typically starting at 30 lbs.
- Capability to work on ladders, in extreme temperature conditions, aboard ships, in shipyards, and in confined spaces.
