Position Overview

The Controls team operates within the Integration division of Global Powertrain, focusing on the definition and development of control functions related to powertrains.

This role encompasses a variety of projects that cater to multiple divisions, contributing to the production of trucks under the renowned brands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize advanced modeling techniques and control theory to achieve optimal integration of hardware and software across various powertrain components.
  • Engage in the development of mechatronic concepts within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the definition of control function architecture.
  • Design and implement control functions for a diverse range of powertrain systems, from advanced emissions-compliant models to fully electric powertrains.

Your Challenges

  • Act as a mechatronic control engineer, defining comprehensive powertrain control concepts and architectures.
  • Collaborate with global teams to gather specific functional requirements and translate them into cutting-edge control concepts.
  • Create sophisticated control concepts using MATLAB/Simulink, verifying algorithms and models through Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing, as well as Rapid Control Prototyping (RCP) in real-world applications.
  • Ensure effective communication with global stakeholders, coordinating and reporting on project progress.
  • Facilitate a structured handover of control functions to the Embedded department.
  • Maintain partnerships with external entities, including suppliers and research institutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Control Systems Engineering or a related discipline is essential.
  • 3-5 years of pertinent experience in the field.
  • Proficient in establishing relevant powertrain system models aligned with functional and control objectives.
  • Extensive expertise in MATLAB, Simulink, and associated control toolboxes, including RCP tools.
  • Familiarity with embedded software modeling guidelines is advantageous.
  • Experience in developing control functions for automotive powertrain systems.
  • Skilled in articulating functional requirements clearly and concisely.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Control Systems Engineering or a related field.
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety and Cyber Security principles is a plus.
