Optical Engineering Manager

JK Executive Strategies, LLC is collaborating with a distinguished Manufacturing Company known for its commitment to innovation and teamwork. We are in search of an Optical Engineering Manager who values continuous improvement and strives to generate value through dedicated effort.

In this role, you will be instrumental in implementing technical solutions within our engineering division. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), your key responsibility will be to mentor and nurture engineering leaders while creating frameworks to facilitate the adoption of innovative technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor engineering leaders, promoting their professional growth.
  • Design and execute systems and procedures to effectively implement technical solutions within the engineering division.
  • Collaborate with leadership to foster a culture of accountability and innovation within the optical engineering team; promote regular teamwork and peer evaluations.
  • Provide updates and insights on resource allocation to program and senior management.
  • Develop comprehensive engineering plans, processes, and protocols for the engineering department.
  • Oversee and guide the optical engineering and design team, including conflict resolution and performance evaluations.
  • Create pathways for professional development, including technical training and cross-departmental training.
  • Work closely with the CTO and senior leadership to ensure technical initiatives align with the company's strategic goals.
  • Ensure the effective execution and optimization of manufacturing processes for precision optics components.
  • Act as the primary technical contact for select projects, delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions.
  • Encourage a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence within the engineering team.
  • Serve as the lead engineer for the final review and approval of optical models and technical documentation, including tolerances and testing methodologies.
  • Facilitate seamless integration of technical solutions between engineering, operations, and quality departments.
  • Support proposal efforts through specification reviews, risk assessments, and timeline estimations.
  • Lead various research and development projects to uncover opportunities for new initiatives and enhanced processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Optics, or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring and developing engineering leaders.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in lens design, metrology, and system integration.
  • Experience in an ISO-9001 and ISO-13485 environment is highly advantageous.
  • Strong expertise in developing systems and processes for the deployment of technical solutions.
  • Solid background in Precision Optics manufacturing.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

Salary Range: $135K - $165K
