In this critical role, you will be instrumental in guiding the engineering team towards the successful implementation of advanced technical solutions. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), your main focus will be on mentoring engineering leaders and creating frameworks that facilitate the adoption of innovative technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor engineering leaders, promoting their professional growth.
  • Design and execute systems and processes that enhance the deployment of technical solutions within the engineering division.
  • Collaborate with leadership to foster a culture of accountability and creativity within the optical engineering team; promote regular teamwork and peer evaluations.
  • Provide updates and insights regarding resource allocation to program and senior management.
  • Develop comprehensive engineering plans, processes, and procedures for the engineering division.
  • Oversee and guide the optical engineering and design team, including conflict resolution and performance evaluations.
  • Create pathways for professional development through technical training, cross-departmental training, and personal growth opportunities.
  • Work closely with the CTO and senior leadership to ensure technical initiatives align with the company's strategic objectives.
  • Ensure the effective execution and optimization of manufacturing processes for precision optics components.
  • Act as the primary technical contact for selected projects, delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions.
  • Encourage a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence within the engineering team.
  • Serve as the lead engineer for the final review and approval of optical models and technical documentation, including tolerances and testing methodologies.
  • Facilitate communication between engineering, operations, and quality departments to ensure seamless integration of technical solutions.
  • Support proposal efforts through specification analysis and risk assessment.
  • Lead research and development initiatives to explore new project opportunities and enhance existing processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Optics, or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring and developing engineering leaders.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in lens design, metrology, and system integration.
  • Experience in an ISO-9001 and ISO-13485 environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong expertise in developing systems and processes for the deployment of technical solutions.
  • Solid background in Precision Optics manufacturing.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage projects effectively, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

Salary Range: $135K - $165K
