About the Role

We are seeking a Credit Risk Manager to enhance our expanding team. You will utilize advanced analytics to extract data insights and convert them into actionable business strategies. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on home equity lines of credit, facilitating growth in a mature fintech environment. In this prominent position, you will be self-motivated and passionate about lending economics, delivering substantial value to our stakeholders, and collaborating effectively with various cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Capital Markets, Compliance, and Operations.

Your analytical expertise will be paired with creative problem-solving as we continuously seek innovative data sources and solutions to thoroughly understand our customers' needs and preferences. You will also oversee the management of the company's credit policies and provide guidance to partners regarding their interpretation and implementation. This position reports to the Senior Director of Risk and will engage with stakeholders at all levels to formulate credit strategies, advise on execution, and drive portfolio oversight.

What You'll Do
  • Lead initiatives to consistently innovate and enhance credit underwriting processes in lending products.
  • Employ analytical methods to derive insights from historical loan performance data, identify opportunities for underwriting new customer segments, and improve credit solutions for existing clients.
  • Collaborate with Capital Markets and Business teams to assess unit economics of customer and risk segments, supporting adjustments in credit criteria.
  • Work alongside the Marketing team to evaluate the impact of credit policies on customer acquisition and identify opportunities for improved conversion rates.
  • Develop assessments for credit expansion opportunities to guide prioritization decisions and support the company's growth strategy.
  • Present Figure's underwriting methodologies to current and prospective investors, addressing their inquiries on an ongoing basis.
  • Share insights regarding credit losses with the Fraud Risk Management team to ensure appropriate focus on customer defaults.
  • Design and implement monitoring frameworks to evaluate the performance of new product launches and existing customer portfolios, advising senior management on emerging trends and risks.
  • Collaborate with the Legal and Compliance team to ensure that strategies and policies adhere to all relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct additional analyses as needed to support the objectives of the Credit team.
What We Look For
  • 5+ years of experience in credit risk management, ideally within the consumer credit sector.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, coupled with sound business judgment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex insights to diverse audiences.
  • Collaborative team player comfortable engaging with partners across various teams and levels of seniority.
  • Proficient technical skills including SQL, R/Python, Tableau, with the ability to independently access and analyze relational data sets.
  • Knowledge and experience in statistical analysis techniques and customer segmentation.
