Position Overview:

The Senior Credit Analyst is a vital member of the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) Team within the Institutional Commercial Real Estate (I-CRE) Credit Management at TD Bank. The CRA Team is focused on structuring, underwriting, and managing portfolios of CRA-eligible construction loans for projects financed through various subsidies. These initiatives contribute to the development and preservation of affordable housing and community assets in Low and Moderate Income (LMI) areas. The CRA Team collaborates closely with Relationship Management and Credit Risk Management, recommending loan opportunities that align with TD Bank Group's Risk Appetite Principles.

The Senior Credit Analyst is tasked with performing comprehensive industry and financial assessments of current and prospective borrowers. This role collaborates effectively to support the Bank's Lending and Credit functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct financial evaluations of moderately complex loans, industries, and clients.
  • Operate with a degree of independence while receiving guidance from senior staff.
  • Possess a solid understanding of loan risk factors.
  • Research industry-specific data from various sources, including borrower conversations, publications, and credit agencies.
  • Engage in client meetings to gather specific information based on prior research and expertise (may require occasional travel).
  • Play an integral role in the loan origination process, performing underwriting assessments of borrowers' character, creditworthiness, and financial health.
  • Provide analytical support to enhance the lending function.
  • Prepare insightful and timely approval memorandums for presentation to relevant lending and credit authorities.
  • Thoroughly analyze financial statements, management profiles, business cycles, cash flow capabilities, and collateral to identify trends and assess credit risk.
  • May prepare comprehensive written analyses with recommendations for approval, denial, or alternative structures when necessary.
  • Maintain credit files and monitor data such as updated financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Provide written analyses that highlight deviations from the Company Commercial Loan Policy and explore alternative structures to mitigate credit risk.
  • Meet operational performance standards in terms of quality and timeliness.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience required.
  • Developed knowledge of credit and financial analysis methodologies.
  • Ability to gather, consolidate, analyze, and summarize data to provide well-considered recommendations independently.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and research capabilities.
  • Proficient in PC applications, particularly word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain confidentiality of credit and client information.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with LIHTC, Tax-Exempt Bonds, and affordable housing finance.
  • Experience in real estate finance and modeling.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Physical Requirements:

Occasional domestic travel may be required.
