About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bilingual Relationship Banker to join our team at M&T Bank. As a key member of our branch, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional customer service and driving sales growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Relationship Management: Identify and assess customer needs, provide proactive sales solutions, and refer complex needs to the appropriate team member.
  • Sales Process: Profile and plan sales interactions, outreach, and appointment preparation to meet customer needs.
  • Risk Management: Ensure compliance with audit requirements, fraud prevention, and Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations.
  • Financial Needs Assessment: Conduct research on customer profiles to identify potential sales opportunities and transition to needs-based discussions.
  • Product and Service Presentation: Present all relevant product and service options to customers, working collaboratively with internal business partners.
  • Client Outreach: Proactively reach out to clients via email or phone to follow up and educate on value-added products and services.
  • New Customer Onboarding: Onboard new customers through customer outreach, regardless of available channel or individual who opened the account.
  • Establishing Trust: Establish trust with existing clients through regular proactive outreach.
  • Scheduling and Preparation: Schedule preset appointments for the following week and hold appointments each week, adequately preparing for sales interactions with pre-call plans.
  • Registration and Compliance: Meet and maintain registration requirements under the Federal SAFE Act and adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls.
  • Customer Servicing: Perform customer servicing interactions and promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and a minimum of 2 years proven retail sales, call center, customer service, and/or telesales experience, or a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) and a minimum of 1 year proven proactive sales experience.
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, proven ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service, well-organized individual with time management and prioritization skills, demonstrated financial services product knowledge, ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy with internal and external customers, and proficiency with internet user-level technology.
  • Language Requirements: Ability to fluently communicate both verbally and in writing with bank customers in both English and Spanish.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates Degree: Associates degree in a related field.
  • Notary Public License: Notary public license.
  • Bilingual: Bilingual based on branch needs.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to Stand for Long Periods: Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Prolonged Use of Hands and Fingers: Prolonged use of hands and fingers.
  • Ability to Lift Light to Heavy Objects: Ability to lift light to heavy objects weighing 5 lbs. to 30lbs.
  • Ability to Read Fine Print: Ability to read fine print.
  • Ability to Interact with Customers: Ability to interact with customers in an open face-to-face work environment.
  • Ability to Use Communication Tools: Ability to use fax, telephone system, copier, and other communication tools.
