Position Summary
The Family Support and Education Program Coordinator plays a crucial role in nurturing a supportive and enriching atmosphere for families within the community. This full-time position is responsible for the implementation and coordination of evidence-based parent education curriculums and workshops designed to equip parents and caregivers with essential knowledge and skills for effective parenting.

This role also focuses on providing multi-generational support services to children, aiming to enhance protective factors and build adult capacities that positively influence child well-being and development. As a Family Support Specialist, this position will offer individuals, families, and relative caregivers vital information and referrals to resources and services tailored to their specific needs.


Key Responsibilities
  • Design, coordinate, and co-facilitate a comprehensive array of evidence-based parent education programs, workshops, and support groups that cater to the diverse needs of families.
  • Oversee the scheduling and execution of parent education events, collaborating with internal and external partners to ensure a wide reach and variety of topics.
  • Manage educational resources and materials to support effective program delivery, staying updated on relevant research and best practices in parenting and family support.
  • Establish strong partnerships with local schools, community organizations, and stakeholders to enhance the visibility and accessibility of parent education initiatives.
  • Provide personalized guidance and support to parents seeking assistance, connecting them with appropriate resources and services.
  • Actively identify and mitigate barriers to parent engagement in educational programs, collaborating with the community to address socio-economic, cultural, or logistical challenges.
  • Maintain accurate records of program attendance, participant feedback, and outcomes, generating regular reports to evaluate the impact of initiatives and identify areas for enhancement.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends and research in parenting, family dynamics, and child development, participating in professional development opportunities to improve personal and programmatic effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Family Support Specialist Responsibilities
  • Conduct individual visits to assigned families to provide personal instruction, develop support plans, and deliver educational activities and curriculum materials related to child development.
  • Facilitate coaching sessions with families to support their self-directed goals and objectives.
  • Maintain comprehensive records on assigned families.
  • Provide requested data for reporting across multiple database platforms.
  • Engage with the community to connect with kinship caregivers and identify their needs.
  • Assist in creating customized Family Support Plans.
  • Help individuals, families, and relative caregivers access benefits and services, including but not limited to social services, school systems, transportation assistance, and health services.
  • Facilitate group sessions and participate in community events.
  • Support organizational compliance with accreditation and licensing requirements regarding policies, procedures, and training.
  • Stay updated on current resources and information beneficial to participants.

Qualifications
  • Experience working with individuals and families in community settings.
  • Valid driver's license with appropriate registration and insurance.

Essential Skills and Expertise
  • Ability to provide strength-based family support.
  • Knowledge of community services available to assist families.
  • Ability to implement supports utilizing the Strengthening Families framework.
  • Familiarity with the Standards for Family Strengthening and Support.
  • Organizational skills for maintaining files and timelines.
  • Proficiency in entering data into web-based databases accurately and promptly.
  • Commitment to the philosophy and mission of Archways.
  • Understanding of various addiction recovery modalities and the ability to articulate multiple pathways of recovery.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, demonstrating cultural and community awareness.
  • Strong communication and time management skills.
  • Good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Capacity to maintain confidentiality and boundaries regarding sensitive information.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and DMV record check prior to hire.
  • Comfortable visiting families in their homes and providing support in a nonjudgmental manner.
