Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

The Associate Relations Manager plays a pivotal role in fostering a workplace environment that aligns with our organizational values and promotes fairness and respect among all associates. This position is tasked with mitigating employment risks by ensuring a workplace free from harassment and discrimination, while adhering to all relevant employment laws and regulations. The role encompasses both proactive and reactive responsibilities, requiring a balanced approach to crisis management and preventive measures.
  • Oversee Associate Relations processes to ensure a proactive, equitable, and consistent resolution approach by cultivating strong relationships with both associates and management.
  • Develop and maintain all necessary documentation in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies.
  • Support HR in addressing ethics and compliance hotline reports related to Associate Relations matters. Conduct or assist in investigations pertaining to significant Associate Relations issues or complex associate situations.
  • Design and implement performance management systems, which include performance evaluations, corrective actions, feedback mechanisms, and performance improvement plans.
  • Recommend, develop, and facilitate training programs on Associate Relations topics (including employment laws, policies, and best practices) for various audiences, ensuring consistency in application.
  • Investigate, analyze, negotiate, and resolve intricate Associate Relations issues promptly and effectively. Collaborate with Legal as necessary to address complex matters.
  • Prepare and present monthly, annual, and ad hoc reports, including analytics that monitor Associate Relations trends and identify areas for enhancement. Provide recommendations to senior leadership based on these insights.
  • Engage in conducting and analyzing associate surveys, focus groups, and exit interviews to uncover trends and recommend actions for improvement.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in Associate Relations or Human Resources, focusing on Associate Relations.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Proficient in employment and labor laws and regulations across the United States.
  • Strong technical skills in Office 365/Teams, MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Adobe.
  • Experience in analyzing complex data sets and formulating recommendations for business leaders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Specialized training in Associate Relations.
  • Experience with employment and labor laws in Canada.
  • Background in union environments and traditional labor issues.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficient in managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in high-pressure situations.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, with frequent interruptions.
  • Requires manual dexterity for typical office tasks.
  • May involve travel by automobile and airplane for business purposes.
  • May require visits to warehouse operations in varying temperatures.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
