Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Principal Subsystems Mechanical Engineer/Sr. Principal Subsystems Mechanical Engineer to join our qualified and diverse team. This role is based in Palmdale, CA and follows a 4/10-1st Shift schedule (Monday-Thursday, 10 hours/day).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate solutions to complex challenges that are comprehensive, innovative, practical, and aligned with program objectives while maintaining focus on the statement of work and design specifications.
  • Facilitate coordination and clear communication with various disciplines, customers, and suppliers throughout the design solution development process.
  • Deliver concise presentations and explanations of system design challenges and solutions to internal management and customer representatives.
  • Oversee the development and review of completed models, drawings, and repairs for precision, clarity, and thoroughness.
  • Assess engineering products for compliance with standards, procedures, and specifications.

Basic Qualifications:

Principal Subsystems Mechanical Engineer (T03):

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) field with a minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, or a Master's degree in a STEM field with at least 3 years of engineering experience, or a PhD in a STEM discipline.
  • Possession of an active in-scope DOD Secret clearance.
  • Capability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR) (not required to start).
  • Experience with a combination of ECS, Fuel, Powerplant, Landing Gear, and Hydraulic installations.
  • Ability to collaborate with the manufacturing team, support A/V testing, and assist with A/V integration as necessary.
  • High proficiency in using CATIA V5 for the development of aircraft Subsystem Installations.

Basic Qualifications:

Sr. Principal Subsystems Mechanical Engineer (T04):

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with a minimum of 9 years of engineering experience, or a Master's degree in a STEM field with at least 7 years of engineering experience, or a PhD in a STEM discipline with 4 years of experience.
  • Possession of an active in-scope DOD Secret clearance.
  • Capability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR) (not required to start).
  • Experience with a combination of ECS, Fuel, Powerplant, Landing Gear, and Hydraulic installations.
  • Ability to collaborate with the manufacturing team, support A/V testing, and assist with A/V integration as necessary.
  • High proficiency in using CATIA V5 for the development of aircraft Subsystem Installations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Secret or Top Secret clearance preferred.
  • 5 years or more of Aerospace Subsystems design experience utilizing CATIA V5.
  • Experience with Special Access Programs.
  • Experience with military aircraft.

Salary Range: $97,500 - $146,300
Salary Range 2: $120,900 - $181,300
The salary range provided serves as a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, including the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may qualify for Long Term Incentives. Furthermore, Northrop Grumman offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plans, company-paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and personal business.
