Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Scientist to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a Research Scientist, you will be responsible for conducting research in a relevant field, such as biology, neuroscience, or engineering, and contributing to the development of new scientific knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct experiments to test hypotheses and gather data
  • Analyze and interpret data to draw conclusions and make recommendations
  • Develop and implement new research methods and techniques
  • Collaborate with other researchers and scientists to share knowledge and ideas
  • Communicate research findings through publications and presentations

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., biology, neuroscience, computational neuroscience, controls, engineering)
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for science
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize responsibilities
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently
  • Willingness to learn new skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic programming skills in Matlab or Python
  • Laboratory experience in Drosophila genetics
  • Able to commit at least two years duration to the position
