A prominent client of UHY LLP, Certified Public Accountants, is in search of a Financial Analyst to enhance their financial team. The successful candidate will exhibit a strong willingness to learn, possess experience with month-end processes and journal entries, and demonstrate advanced Excel capabilities, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and complex formulas.

This Financial Analyst position operates in a hybrid model, requiring in-office attendance four days a week. This role is structured as a contract-to-hire opportunity.

Key Responsibilities of the Financial Analyst:

  • Manage daily general ledger accounting, along with financial reporting and analysis for designated functional areas.
  • Investigate and address inquiries from Business Units related to assigned areas.
  • Maintain regular communication with Supervisors regarding financial closing processes, issues, and deliverables.
  • Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities for assigned functional areas:
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide detailed explanations.
  • Compile and submit DCP Consolidation & Reporting Deliverables.
  • Prepare and analyze periodic management reports of financial outcomes for assigned areas:
  • Ensure submission of financial results to DCP Consolidation & Reporting Deliverables.
  • Compile all necessary Financial Reporting requirements.
  • Perform reconciliations of Balance Sheet accounts, conduct account analyses, and manage accrual calculations, along with other related accounting documents and schedules.
  • Prepare journal entries pertinent to assigned responsibilities.
  • Analyze foreign currency transactions and their effects on financial results.
  • Develop reporting packages for DCP, Corporate, Tax, GST/Canadian filings/audits, as applicable, and Audit Engagement Schedules.
  • Engage in special projects aimed at enhancing process efficiency and performance.
  • Review and analyze accounting transactions for functional accuracy.
  • Execute project control functions as required.
  • Maintain and track lease agreements.
  • Oversee the management of additions and disposals for Fixed Assets.

Qualifications Required for the Financial Analyst:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • 5-6 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Exceptional research and analytical skills.
  • Capacity to adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently.
  • Excellent organizational abilities.
  • Master's degree in Accounting or a related field (preferred).
  • CPA certification (preferred).
