Position Overview

The Procurement Specialist is tasked with overseeing, analyzing, and managing all planning, scheduling, and order release activities for their designated products to ensure that customer delivery commitments are fulfilled. These products encompass assembled end items, semi-finished goods, and procured components.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Review Material Requirements Planning (MRP) for procurement needs.
  • Confirm customer orders based on material availability and production capacity.
  • Issue production orders to manufacturing in alignment with material availability.
  • Provide updates to customer service regarding order status.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Identify and address short-term material shortages as necessary.
  • Develop and utilize various reports to manage open purchase orders as business demands evolve.
  • Assist in managing inventory levels to achieve and maintain budgeted targets.
  • Maintain planning parameters, including safety stock levels.
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Strategic Procurement to resolve issues as required.
  • Review and process Engineering changes and new product introductions as necessary.
  • Create and/or distribute planning reports as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Engineering (Production or Industrial), or Business.
  • Two to four years of experience in Production Planning/Scheduling, Purchasing, and/or Customer Service within a formal MRP environment.
  • A-PICS Certification is preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with SAP.
  • Intermediate proficiency in computer applications (MS Word, Excel).
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
