This role is situated within the Veterans Health Administration, specifically in the Prosthetic & Sensory Aids Service (PSAS).

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent will provide essential procurement and inventory management support to both administrative and clinical services, facilitating the acquisition of necessary resources to deliver prosthetic and sensory aids services to Veterans.

Core Responsibilities Include:
  • Executing purchasing tasks in compliance with all PSAS directives, regulations, and facility policies.
  • Confirming vendor eligibility through the Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) and ensuring registration in the System for Award Management (SAM).
  • Monitoring the accountability of all prosthetics expenditures and associating obligations with individual Veterans.
  • Preparing acquisition plans and procurement packages tailored to stock and specific Veteran needs.
  • Utilizing various software applications such as GIP, VISTA, CPRS, and APAT for effective management.
  • Selecting the most suitable and cost-effective sources for urgent procurement needs.
  • Acting as the primary contact for external customer service inventory inquiries.
  • Delivering exceptional service to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Managing funds to authorize payments for procurement activities.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of medical terminology and an understanding of physical and sensory disabilities.
  • Interpreting instructions from healthcare professionals accurately.
Promotion Potential: The selected candidate may advance to the full performance level without further competition upon meeting all regulatory and performance requirements.

Work Schedule: Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm.

Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory for application.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Probationary period may be required.
  • Background/security investigation is a prerequisite.
  • Online onboarding process completion is necessary.
  • Participation in seasonal influenza vaccination is mandatory for all healthcare personnel.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of the announcement.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements as specified.

Specialized Experience: Applicants must possess specialized experience or education that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the Procurement Specialist position.

Physical Requirements: The role may require some physical effort, including standing, walking, and sitting.
