Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Catering Server will operate independently, managing responsibilities under demanding conditions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up and dismantle catering events efficiently.
  • Work autonomously during catering functions.
  • Ensure the safe return of catering equipment post-events.
  • Conduct inventory checks on supplies and equipment, reporting any discrepancies promptly.
  • Prepare service and delivery lists for the next day.
  • Complete inventory assessments, including paper goods, linens, and tableware.
  • Maintain organized storage areas for equipment and supplies.
  • Assist with loading and unloading supplies and equipment for events.
  • Collect items from food service areas for return to the catering storage.
  • Load and unload catering vehicles as needed.
  • Help stock delivered products.
  • Adhere to all company policies and local regulations regarding employment, safety, and health.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required, along with at least six months of experience in food service or retail operations, or a combination of education and experience.

Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation, organizational abilities, and multitasking capabilities are essential.

A Food Handler's certificate from the County of San Diego is preferred.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

LANGUAGE ABILITY:

Must possess the ability to read, write, and comprehend English. This includes following verbal and written instructions and effectively communicating with customers and colleagues.

MATH SKILLS:

Basic math skills are required, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions and manage multiple tasks while paying attention to detail.

MANUAL DEXTERITY:

Proficiency in using a computer and various office and food service equipment is necessary.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be capable of standing for extended periods and lifting or carrying heavy items up to 50 pounds. Close vision is also required.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work occurs in a food production area, which may be dimly lit and humid, with exposure to food fumes and airborne particles. Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and cleaning chemicals is expected.

BACKGROUND CHECK:

A background check will be conducted following a conditional job offer. This will include verification of education, employment history, and criminal records.
