We are currently looking for a dedicated Substance Abuse Treatment Specialist to join our Opiate Treatment Program. This role involves implementing best practices in delivering Medication Assisted Treatment for individuals facing substance use disorders. The selected candidate will oversee daily treatment and programming for patients enrolled in the Opioid Treatment Program (OTP).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver training and educational sessions to peers regarding essential functions.
  • Provide leadership coverage in the absence of the OTP Clinical Manager.
  • Develop personalized counseling, treatment, and recovery plans that promote healthy behaviors and coping mechanisms.
  • Conduct assessments, including substance use disorder and mental health evaluations, and manage intake processes for patient admissions as necessary.
  • Meet patient engagement and productivity standards.
  • Assess and monitor patients' strengths, weaknesses, and treatment needs, adjusting individualized treatment plans accordingly.
  • Facilitate group counseling and treatment sessions.
  • Offer case management services to support patient needs.
  • Provide crisis intervention services as required.
  • Educate staff on professional counseling topics.
  • Present informative programs on issues such as chemical dependency, AIDS, recovery challenges for special populations, relapse prevention, 12-step recovery, and family recovery matters.
  • Coordinate patient referrals when appropriate.
  • Engage in consultations with other professionals as needed.
  • Complete necessary patient documentation within designated timelines.
  • Participate in regular patient staffing meetings with relevant treatment facility personnel.
  • Establish and maintain connections with agencies to enhance patient access to community resources.
  • Conduct community education and awareness initiatives as requested.
  • Guide patients through program guidelines and expectations.
  • Implement random drug use monitoring among patients using available urinalysis methods.
  • Adapt work hours flexibly to meet patient care and programmatic demands.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Counseling, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field, along with at least one year of experience as a Counselor or equivalent paid social service experience; a Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Rehabilitation Counseling is preferred.
  • Active status maintenance of a LCDC III, LSW, LPC, LPCC, or LISW, including compliance with annual educational requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of chemical dependency and recovery processes, including family disease dynamics and recovery support groups.
  • Proficiency in computer usage and literacy.
  • A valid driver’s license and insurance are required.
  • Ability to work independently while exercising discretion and sound judgment.
  • Strong writing skills for clear, concise, and accurate documentation, adhering to confidentiality laws and standards.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary treatment team.
