Substance Abuse Counselor Job Overview
Amatus Health is in search of a dedicated and empathetic Substance Abuse Counselor to provide essential guidance and support to our clients.
In this pivotal role, you will be tasked with creating comprehensive treatment and recovery strategies while leading both individual and group therapy sessions.
To thrive in this position, counselors should be well-versed in contemporary treatment approaches, particularly Motivational Interviewing, and work in tandem with other mental health professionals.
This role demands the ability to function effectively within a collaborative treatment environment, necessitating regular consultations with fellow clinicians, medical staff, and residential support teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overseeing all facets of client cases from initial entry to discharge, including but not limited to: biopsychosocial evaluations, treatment planning, family collaboration, and discharge coordination.
- Maintaining a manageable caseload of clients.
- Conducting individual and group therapy sessions.
- Monitoring patient progress over time to evaluate treatment effectiveness.
- Collaborating with psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, social workers, and various community resources involved in the clients' care.
- Identifying and addressing obstacles that may hinder treatment and recovery.
- Engaging with family members to offer education and support.
- Adhering to all organizational policies and procedures as detailed in the employee handbook, including patient grievance handling, intake protocols, staff meeting obligations, and general conduct standards.
- Educational background in chemical dependency counseling or a related degree with relevant coursework.
- Must possess one of the following credentials in the state of Indiana: CADACII or higher.
- A Master's Degree is preferred.
- Prior experience in treating substance use disorders is essential.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and a compassionate demeanor.
- Ability to uphold confidentiality standards.
- LAC, LCAC, LSW, or LMHC certification is required.Benefits:
