Position Overview

This role involves supervising and guiding Pump Storage Operators, Senior Electricians, Electricians, and Operators in the maintenance and operation of a remote power generation facility. The position requires advanced troubleshooting skills, emergency flood control operations, and adherence to operational protocols. The employee will be responsible for training and overseeing the work of others while also engaging in hands-on tasks across various functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the inspection and testing of electrical apparatus, including motors, voltage regulators, generators, and transformers.
  • Manage emergency and routine maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts in plant electrical systems, including protective circuitry and control systems.
  • Coordinate necessary plant switching during emergencies and scheduled outages.
  • Ensure all equipment is cleared and issue clearances for maintenance work.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and manage inventory for remote operations.
  • Collaborate with other departments for effective maintenance planning and execution.
  • Develop detailed functional test procedures for complex electrical systems.
  • Assist colleagues during absences or workload fluctuations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Work safely and efficiently, maintaining positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Basic understanding of electrical principles and their application in hydro power generation.
  • Extensive knowledge of installation, maintenance, and operation of electrical and mechanical equipment in hydro facilities.
  • Proficient in plant electrical systems, circuits, and control logic.
  • Skilled in using electrical testing equipment for troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with switchboard operations and safety protocols in hydro power plants.
  • Ability to supervise and assign tasks to skilled and unskilled workers.
  • Capability to identify irregularities in mechanical operations.
  • Strong report writing skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety methods relevant to hydro power plant operations.
Experience and Education

Two to three years of experience as a pumped-storage operator with demonstrated proficiency in electrical and mechanical maintenance in a hydro facility or equivalent experience is required. A High School diploma, GED, or equivalent is necessary.

Work Environment

SRP currently supports a hybrid work model, allowing eligible employees to work remotely up to three days a week. All employees must reside and work in Arizona. We prioritize the health and safety of our team members by implementing various health protocols.
