Job Summary

The Logistics Assistant Manager is a key role within the Ben E. Keith Company, responsible for assisting in the management of operational, customer service, and rate negotiations of product shipments to ensure effective operational efficiency. This position ensures compliance with FMCSA regulations and plays a crucial role in the company's commitment to delivering quality since 1906.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carrier and Vendor Management: Assist in managing carrier and vendor relationships to negotiate the best delivery rates and guarantee optimal performance.
  • Administrative Duties: Perform administrative duties to ensure appropriate billing and correct payment of invoices.
  • Logistics Department Management: Assist in managing daily responsibilities of Logistics personnel, including backhaul drivers to ensure operational efficiency of the logistics department and ensure BEK quality guidelines are met and maintained.
  • Product Shipments and Inventory Management: Supervise product shipments and collaborate with the Purchasing Department to optimize inventory levels.
  • Product Movement Analysis: Record and analyze product movements by vendor and destination.
  • Inbound Truckload Shipments: Supervise and analyze inbound truckload shipments for the best possible service.
  • LTL Shipments Consolidation: Help manage, review, and consolidate less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments from several suppliers for truckload shipments.
  • Inventory Optimization: Collaborate with Purchasing Managers to lower inventory on hand and gain more frequent inventory turns.
Requirements
  • Education and/or Work Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent shipping, food service, or logistics experience.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to use PC and Microsoft Office applications, ability to learn and use relevant BEK systems.
  • Management Experience: Management experience preferred.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to understand complex processes, strong negotiation/problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge and Certifications: Knowledge of DOT Compliance and On-Board Record Keeping Systems, Commercial Driver's License preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Physical Abilities: Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Attendance: Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
