Position Overview

We are currently seeking an Area Manager for our distribution center. This role reports directly to the Operations Manager and is accountable for leading daily operational activities within the warehouse. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the operations leadership team, customer service, and sales to ensure that we meet and exceed customer expectations. We are looking for a high-performing individual with the potential for growth beyond this position, someone who can engage teams and foster loyalty.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage various warehouse operations, including daily scheduling and staff productivity to achieve budgetary objectives.
  • Oversee all warehouse personnel, including goal setting, performance reviews, ongoing training, and personnel actions.
  • Ensure operations are conducted within the established budget (P&L) for the warehouse.
  • Develop and mentor Supervisory and Lead staff on essential leadership functions.
  • Assist in creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the warehouse.
  • Supervise inventory control processes.
  • Utilize the Warehouse Management System to ensure:
  1. Effective management of cycle counting, adjustments, and rotation programs.
  2. Optimal productivity and space utilization.
  3. Accuracy in inventory records.
  4. Identification of opportunities for technological enhancements.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service Representatives, and other Managers to facilitate new business initiatives, account modifications, and corrective actions for operational service issues.
  • Promote a top-tier safety culture and ensure adherence to all safety programs.
  • Ensure safe and efficient use of material handling equipment and oversee maintenance management.
  • Embrace and promote the company’s values and mission statement, striving for excellence in all operations.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in a warehousing or logistics environment, emphasizing safety, reliability, and continuous improvement. Experience in food safety is highly valued.

Additional qualifications include:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Business, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
  • A minimum of four years of supervisory or managerial experience in Warehousing, Logistics, or Supply Chain.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to coach and motivate teams, focusing on customer service for both internal and external clients.
  • A proactive individual who is adaptable and possesses a strong sense of urgency.
  • Ability to deliver results effectively and on schedule, overcoming challenges.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Strong organizational and leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
