Compensation Overview

The salary range for this position reflects a national market standard and encompasses a wide array of salaries for this role across the country. The actual compensation will be influenced by various factors, including the role's complexity, location, and the candidate's qualifications, experience, and other employment conditions. Additionally, employees may qualify for performance-based cash incentive awards as part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits package.

What Is the Opportunity?

Reporting to the Regional Director of Boiler and Machinery Risk Control, this role involves overseeing Boiler and Machinery Risk Control services and personnel within a designated region. You will support local business strategies, facilitate underwriting through effective risk assessments, and assist in the claims process with prompt investigations. Your responsibilities include ensuring high-quality inspections and service delivery, managing relationships with local business partners, and collaborating with local authorities for efficient inspection reporting. You will also lead talent development to meet the technical demands of the business and actively recruit qualified candidates from manufacturing and service sectors. Accountability for work quality will be maintained through a formal Quality Assurance process, with a focus on enhancing service delivery and execution.

What Will You Do?

Oversee work assignments in your territory to guarantee technical quality and operational efficiency, aligning tasks with complexity and required skills. Engage with employees regularly through both remote and in-person communication. Provide constructive feedback during performance reviews. Collaborate with staff to create and track individual development plans, focusing on critical skill gaps. Coordinate training for local staff in line with regional initiatives and market developments. Ensure quality through co-surveys and thorough review processes. Maintain open and relevant communication with your direct manager and business leadership. Act as a technical resource for Claims Representatives and Account Executives, guiding the selection of consultants for specialized surveys and investigations. Recruit, interview, and train new talent to build a skilled team of Risk Control professionals. Stay informed about jurisdictional regulations within your territory and represent the company at relevant meetings. Ensure compliance with the Boiler & Machinery Safety Program among consultants and staff. Support marketing efforts by assisting Account Executives and Marketing Executives in presentations as needed. Perform additional duties as required.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

A minimum of 5 years' experience in Boiler and Machinery Risk Control is preferred. An undergraduate degree in a technical or scientific field is preferred. Experience in managing remote teams is preferred. Leadership Skills: Provides clear direction, motivates and inspires staff to achieve excellence, and identifies future leaders. Business Acumen: Familiarity with Boiler and Machinery insurance products and services. Technical and Analytical Skills: Knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment, including fired boilers and pressure vessels. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication abilities, capable of simplifying complex technical information for diverse audiences. Customer Service Orientation: Demonstrates strong customer service skills, ensuring that service meets or exceeds expectations. Coaching and Development: Identifies opportunities for individual growth and assists in developing personalized plans. Talent Acquisition: Actively recruits top talent through networking and creative hiring strategies. Preferred qualifications include a National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors Commission and recognized professional designations (e.g., CSP, ARM, CPCU, CFPS).

What is Required?

An undergraduate degree or 2 years of management experience in claims or risk control is required. A minimum of 5 years of experience in the insurance industry is required. A valid driver's license is required.
