Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range for this position reflects a nationwide market range and encompasses a variety of salaries for this role across the country. The specific salary will be influenced by several factors, including the role's scope, complexity, and location; the candidate's skills, education, training, credentials, and experience; and other employment conditions. Our comprehensive compensation and benefits program also includes eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?

Reporting to the Regional Director of Boiler and Machinery Risk Control, you will oversee the management of Boiler and Machinery Risk Control services and personnel within a designated region. Your role will involve supporting local business strategies, facilitating underwriting through quality risk assessments, and aiding the claims process with prompt investigations. You will ensure high standards in inspection and service delivery while fostering relationships with local business partners, including underwriting, claims, and other Risk Control sectors. Additionally, you will collaborate with local authorities to guarantee effective inspection reporting and documentation. Understanding the diverse needs of our customer base will enable you to position Risk Control services effectively for new business acquisition and account retention. You will also lead talent development initiatives to align with the technical requirements of the business and actively seek new talent from manufacturing and service industries, ensuring candidates possess the necessary credentials. Accountability for work quality will be maintained through a formal Quality Assurance process, and you will continuously seek opportunities to enhance service delivery and execution.

What Will You Do?

Oversee work assignments in your territory to guarantee technical quality and operational efficiency, aligning tasks based on complexity and required skills. Engage with employees, both local and remote, through regular communication via phone and in-person meetings. Provide constructive feedback, ensuring formal evaluations during interim and year-end reviews. Collaborate with staff to create and monitor individual development plans, focusing on critical skill gaps for business effectiveness. Coordinate training for local personnel in line with regional initiatives, business partner strategies, emerging issues, and market changes. Ensure quality through co-surveys and survey/file reviews, adhering to a formal Quality Assurance (QA) process. Maintain timely and relevant communication with your direct manager and business partner leadership. Act as a technical resource for Claim Representatives and Account Executives, guiding the selection of field consultants for specialized risk control surveys and claim investigations. Network, recruit, interview, hire, and train new talent to build a team of experienced Risk Control Consultants to meet current and future business demands. Stay informed about jurisdictional rules and regulations within your territory, representing the company at relevant meetings and ensuring that field consultants and the Regional Director are aware of current and evolving regulations. Ensure that consultants and staff comply with our Boiler & Machinery Safety Program. Support Account Executives, Marketing Executives, and Regional Directors in marketing presentations as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

Preferred 5 years of experience in the Boiler and Machinery Risk Control sector. An undergraduate degree in a technical or scientific field is preferred. Experience in managing remote teams is preferred. Leadership skills to provide clear direction, motivate and inspire staff, lead change, and promote a culture of excellence. Business knowledge of Boiler and Machinery insurance products and services. Technical and analytical competency, understanding mechanical and electrical equipment, fired boilers, pressure vessels, and related safety systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences. Excellent customer service skills, ensuring that service meets or exceeds expectations. Coaching and staff development abilities to identify individual growth opportunities and assist in creating development plans. Proactive recruitment skills to attract top talent through networking and creative hiring strategies. Preferred National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors Commission and recognized professional designations (e.g., CSP, ARM, CPCU, CFPS).

What is a Must Have?

An undergraduate degree or 2 years of management experience in claims or risk control is required. A minimum of 5 years of experience in the insurance industry is required. A valid driver's license is required.
