The salary range for this position reflects a national market range and encompasses a variety of salaries for this role across the country. The actual compensation will be influenced by several factors, including the complexity and scope of the role, as well as the candidate's skills, education, training, credentials, and experience. Additionally, employees may qualify for performance-based cash incentive awards as part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program.

1What Is the Opportunity?
This role reports to the Regional Director of Boiler and Machinery Risk Control. With broad oversight, you will manage Boiler and Machinery Risk Control services and personnel within a designated region. Your responsibilities will include supporting local business strategies, enhancing underwriting through quality risk assessments, and facilitating the claims process through prompt investigations. You will ensure high-quality inspections and service delivery while maintaining relationships with local business partners, including underwriting and claims. Your understanding of customer needs will help position Risk Control services to support new business development and client retention. You will also lead talent development initiatives to align with the technical demands of the business.
What Will You Do?
- Oversee work assignments in your territory to guarantee technical quality and operational efficiency, aligning tasks based on complexity and required skills.
- Engage with employees regularly through communication, both remotely and in person.
- Provide constructive feedback and conduct formal evaluations during interim and year-end reviews.
- Collaborate with staff to create and monitor individual development plans, focusing on critical skill gaps.
- Coordinate training for local staff in alignment with regional initiatives and market changes.
- Ensure quality through co-surveys and reviews, adhering to a formal Quality Assurance process.
- Maintain consistent communication with your direct manager and business partner leadership.
- Act as a technical resource for Claims Representatives and Account Executives, guiding the selection of field consultants for specialized surveys and investigations.
- Recruit, interview, and train new talent to build a skilled team of Risk Control Consultants.
- Stay informed about jurisdictional regulations within your territory and represent the company at relevant meetings.
- Ensure compliance with the Boiler & Machinery Safety Program among consultants and staff.
- Support marketing efforts by assisting Account Executives and Marketing Executives during presentations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
- Preferred 5 years of experience in the Boiler and Machinery Risk Control sector.
- Undergraduate degree in a technical or scientific field preferred.
- Experience managing remote teams preferred.
- Leadership: Ability to provide clear direction, motivate and inspire staff, and identify future leaders.
- Business Knowledge: Familiarity with Boiler and Machinery insurance products and services.
- Technical and Analytical Skills: Understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment, fired boilers, pressure vessels, and associated safety systems.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication abilities, capable of simplifying complex technical information for diverse audiences.
- Customer Service: Strong customer service skills, ensuring service meets or exceeds expectations.
- Coaching and Staff Development: Ability to identify development opportunities and assist in creating individual growth plans.
- Attracting Top Talent: Proactive in recruiting talent through networking and creative hiring strategies.
- Preferred National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors Commission and recognized professional designations (e.g., CSP, ARM, CPCU, CFPS).
What is a Must Have?
- Undergraduate degree or 2 years of management experience in claims or risk control.
- 5 years of experience in the insurance industry.
- Valid Driver's license.
