Position Overview

Custer County is seeking a qualified individual for the role of Director of Human Resources. This part-time position requires a commitment of two days per week, focusing on delivering high-quality employee support and strategic HR guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development and execution of County HR policies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Lead recruitment efforts and manage the hiring process to attract top talent.
  • Provide expert advice on compensation, benefits, and compliance with employment laws.
  • Collaborate with County Commissioners and Department Heads to enhance employee relations and staff development.
  • Facilitate training programs aimed at improving workplace culture and compliance.
  • Manage risk and insurance programs, ensuring effective communication of employee benefits.
  • Participate in the annual budget process, focusing on personnel-related expenditures.
  • Act as the ADA coordinator, ensuring compliance with disability regulations.
  • Oversee the recruitment and selection process, including applicant tracking and onboarding.
  • Conduct job evaluations and manage compensation structures.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • At least two years of relevant experience in human resources management.
  • Professional certification (PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) is required or must be obtained within 18 months of hire.

Physical and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to perform various physical tasks including sitting, standing, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Work primarily in an office environment with standard office hours.
  • Some travel may be necessary for training and meetings.
