Your Role
The Institute for Simulation and Training (IST) within the School of Modeling, Simulation, and Training (SMST) is seeking a research faculty member at the level of research associate to engage in advanced research on simulation and training technologies. This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure earning position funded by contracts and grants.
We are looking for a seasoned Artificial Intelligence (AI) researcher who can work both independently and collaboratively to design, develop, modify, test, document, and maintain simulation software products. Responsibilities will also include providing data and progress reports as required by contractual obligations. Occasional travel for data collection and presenting findings will be necessary.
Essential Qualifications:
A master's degree from an accredited institution with a proven record of academic research success, or professional qualifications in the field of artificial intelligence that exceed those equivalent to the highest degree.
Significant experience or education in at least three of the following areas is required:
• Generative AI and its direct application to modeling and simulation.
• Proficient knowledge of Python, C++, and C for optimal AI implementation.
• Application of AI within three-dimensional virtual environments.
• AI interfaces for 3D game engines (e.g., ML-Agents).
• Familiarity with OpenFlight file format and visual database correlation.
Desirable Qualifications:
A terminal degree in Artificial Intelligence or a related field from an accredited institution, along with three years of relevant professional experience.
Additional preferences include:
• A comprehensive understanding of clustering knowledge and specific Kubernetes deployments utilizing GPUs for parallel AI processing.
• Expertise in advanced simulation techniques that leverage AI.
• Proficiency in modern rapid application development methodologies.
• In-depth knowledge of machine learning theory and practical application of DNN/CNN.
