Job Title: Hospital Coordinator

Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Hospital Coordinator to support our mission of inspiring, educating, and engaging people to serve as lifelong stewards for animals and their habitats.

About the Role:

The Hospital Coordinator will assist the Director of Animal Health in managing a high-quality veterinary medical program for our animals. This includes maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records, coordinating procedures with Animal Care, and assisting veterinarians with core medical programs.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain electronic and paper medical records to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Input medical data into Zoological Information Management software in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and maintain staff access to medical records and other documentation.
  • Prepare medical data reports for internal review and external sharing.
  • Work closely with the registrar to ensure animal shipments are completed on time and regulations are met.
  • Assist with animal transports and packaging/shipping samples for research purposes.
  • Provide oversight to the CCR dormitory housing and ensure guests/students receive an orientation.
  • Maintain office equipment and perform basic maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with research coordination and data entry for approved projects.
  • Perform other duties as needed to ensure animal care and departmental operations.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in a health-related field (bachelor's degree preferred).
  • Two years of experience in an animal care field.
  • Excellent communication and computer skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and foster trust-based relationships.
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to veterinary medicine in zoological parks.
Working Conditions:
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
  • Ability to work with animals with potential zoonotic disease and narcotics for animal immobilization.
