Patient Access Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Specialist to facilitate the admission and registration process for all inpatients and outpatients at Children's Hospital & Medical Center. This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Obtain complete and accurate patient, demographic, and insurance information, identifying all payment sources and pre-admission certification requirements.
- Establish good rapport with patients, parents, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective communication and a positive patient experience.
- Verify all demographic information is complete and accurate in the Epic registration system and communicate such information to all parties involved.
- Collect copayments and payments on account at time of registration, and post payments to accounts according to system protocol.
- Develop working knowledge of insurance companies and their requirements, and verify Medicaid eligibility through NMES line or N-Focus/web eligibility.
- Enter patient transfers, discharges, expirations, and physician notification changes into EPIC, and answer and direct multi-line phone calls within 2-3 rings.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Minimum one year customer service experience required.
- One year experience working in a healthcare or insurance setting preferred.
- Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
