Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Operations Supervisor plays a pivotal role in overseeing and guiding the manufacturing workflows. This individual will be responsible for crafting, articulating, and implementing effective operational strategies that prioritize safety, productivity, quality, and employee engagement. Leading a diverse team of leaders and hourly staff, the supervisor will strive to achieve and surpass operational objectives while embracing lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee departmental workflow to maximize productivity.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality products.
  • Interpret and communicate blueprints and BOM to team members.
  • Enforce employee discipline and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Schedule production tasks and make necessary adjustments.
  • Uphold cleanliness and safety standards within the department.
  • Communicate essential information regarding safety, quality, and efficiency to staff.
  • Facilitate training and cross-training for employees.
  • Monitor job progress and establish prioritization.
  • Relay equipment and personnel needs to the Plant Manager.
  • Coordinate with Plant Manager/Engineering regarding parts issues.
  • Continuously assess production techniques to enhance product flow and resource utilization.
  • Review employee timecards and make necessary corrections.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing on material shortages affecting production schedules.
  • Maintain communication with Warehouse, FAB, Assembly, and Shipping regarding job statuses.
  • Work with Human Resources on employee disciplinary matters.
  • Establish departmental schedules in alignment with production timelines.
  • Ensure shop cleanliness and adherence to product standards.
  • Collaborate with the Plant Manager to meet production goals and procedural compliance.
  • Promote ongoing training in lean manufacturing and Kaizen methodologies.
  • Implement lean manufacturing practices effectively.
  • Manage manpower during Team Leads' absences.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Proficient in mathematical concepts.
  • Team-oriented with exceptional organizational abilities, capable of multitasking and prioritizing effectively.
  • Ability to operate independently under tight deadlines.
  • Solid interpersonal skills with a proactive approach to project management.
  • High energy level and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and refine processes proactively.

  • Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment is essential.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong understanding of MRP Systems, particularly Movex.
  • Ability to engage with production leadership as necessary.
  • Proven capacity to maintain focus and manage multiple tasks within designated timeframes.
  • Ability to remain composed in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Minimal travel required.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be required to sit for extended periods, work on a computer, stand, walk, and use hands for various tasks. The employee must occasionally lift or move office supplies weighing up to 20 pounds and must wear appropriate personal protective equipment while on the manufacturing floor.
