Manufacturing Operations Supervisor

Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Operations Supervisor plays a pivotal role in overseeing and guiding the manufacturing activities. This individual will be responsible for formulating, articulating, and implementing effective operational strategies that prioritize safety, productivity, quality, and employee engagement. The supervisor will lead a team of both leaders and hourly staff to achieve and surpass operational objectives. Our facility employs lean manufacturing principles, necessitating leadership that actively engages in continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee departmental workflow to maximize productivity.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality products.
- Interpret and communicate blueprints and BOM to team members.
- Maintain appropriate employee conduct.
- Schedule production tasks and make adjustments as necessary.
- Ensure a clean and safe working environment.
- Communicate effectively with staff regarding safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Provide training and cross-training for employees.
- Monitor job progress and prioritize tasks accordingly.
- Relay employee and equipment needs to the Plant Manager.
- Coordinate with Plant Manager/Engineering regarding parts issues and monitor resolutions.
- Continuously assess production techniques to enhance product flow and resource utilization while minimizing waste.
- Manage employee timecards and make necessary adjustments.
- Collaborate with Purchasing on material shortages affecting scheduled jobs.
- Coordinate with Warehouse, FAB, Assembly, and Shipping regarding job statuses.
- Work with Human Resources on employee disciplinary matters.
- Establish departmental schedules in alignment with production timelines.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization within the shop.
- Verify that products meet established standards.
- Collaborate with the Plant Manager to ensure adherence to procedures and production targets.
- Communicate and provide ongoing training on lean manufacturing and Kaizen principles.
- Implement lean manufacturing practices.
- Manage manpower in the absence of Team Leads.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently.
- Proficient in mathematics.
- Team-oriented with excellent organizational skills, capable of multitasking and prioritizing effectively.
- Able to work independently under tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills with a proactive project management approach.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- High energy and hands-on orientation with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proactive in managing projects and refining processes.
- Results-oriented with integrity and a strong work ethic.
- Effective time management and prioritization skills.
- Proficient in problem-solving and troubleshooting.
- Organized and prompt in meeting scheduled needs and addressing issues.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing supervisory role is required.
Technical Skills:
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong knowledge of MRP systems, preferably Movex.
- Ability to interact with production leadership as needed.
- Proven ability to maintain focus and manage multiple tasks within specified time frames.
- Ability to remain composed and focused in a fast-paced work environment requiring flexibility and urgency.
- Minimal travel required.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee may spend extended periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer, with occasional requirements to stand, walk, and use hands for various tasks. The employee must occasionally lift or move office supplies weighing up to 20 pounds and must wear appropriate personal protective equipment while on the manufacturing floor.
