Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Director of Technology, this role is pivotal in overseeing technical initiatives aimed at the formulation of new elastomer products, enhancing technical services, and driving product and margin enhancements. The incumbent will play a key role in nurturing client relationships and providing essential technical support across the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and refine elastomer products to fulfill specific customer or market demands.
  • Assist in the creation of sample formulations and compounds.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Engineering teams to innovate products and processes, ensuring commercial viability.
  • Analyze and interpret physical, thermal, weatherability, paintability, and analytical test results, organizing data for customer presentations (e.g., Certification Packages, Technical Data Sheets).
  • Authorize the distribution of samples for client assessments.
  • Compile and circulate regular reviews; maintain project lists, monthly reports, and additional documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards concerning product formulations (e.g., UL, FDA, NAFTA, NSF).
  • Engage with suppliers to explore and assess new or enhanced raw materials.
  • Participate in weekly meetings to prioritize and schedule sample production.
  • Attend sales meetings and regular teleconferences.
  • Contribute to the development of procedures and work instructions to ensure compliance with corporate management system requirements.
  • Execute additional tasks and responsibilities in support of projects, including injection molding of test specimens, material testing, and color evaluation assistance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Material Science, or Chemistry.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in thermoplastics or polymers is highly desirable.
  • Background in polymer chemistry through education or training is preferred.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications, including spreadsheet software.
  • Highly organized with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

Work Environment:

This position is situated in a manufacturing and plant setting, complemented by an office environment.
