Position Overview:

The Manufacturing Engineer will focus on implementing Lean methodologies in the mass production of electrical cabinets.

This role involves collaboration with the production team and oversight from the VP of Operations.

This position offers a unique chance to contribute significantly to the establishment of a new production facility and the foundational implementation of a Lean manufacturing framework.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct time studies and multi-cycle analyses to enhance production layouts and work cell configurations, ensuring alignment with takt time.
  • Create and revise work instructions and job aids to document best practices and uphold quality standards.
  • Engage with the production team daily to resolve issues and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Lead initiatives for continuous improvement and facilitate events.
  • Identify and justify automation opportunities aimed at enhancing safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Collaborate with the team to implement and maintain 5S and visual management practices.
  • Participate in daily accountability meetings, working alongside production leadership to ensure operational effectiveness.
  • Facilitate and lead problem-solving teams, promoting effective practices and behaviors using tools such as 5-Whys, 8D, and Ishikawa diagrams for root cause analysis.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends and create Pareto charts that focus improvement efforts on significant opportunities, measuring the impact of enhancements.
  • Develop and implement material handling strategies (e.g., pull systems, kanban) to ensure material availability while minimizing inventory levels.
  • Act as a coach and mentor to disseminate Lean principles throughout the team, aiding others in understanding and applying essential concepts.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Strong communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% for visits to secondary production sites.

Educational Background:
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or a related engineering discipline is strongly preferred.
  • Consideration will be given to candidates with an associate degree in a technical field combined with relevant experience.

Experience:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in applying Lean principles in high-volume production settings.

Additional Skills:
  • Experience with PFMEAs and control plans is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 (or equivalent) certified operations is preferred.
  • Proficient in using computers and mobile devices for communication.
