Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Director of Technology, this role is pivotal in overseeing technical initiatives aimed at creating innovative elastomer product formulations, enhancing technical services, and driving product and margin enhancements. The position is also responsible for fostering customer relationships and providing essential technical support across the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and refine elastomer products to fulfill specific customer or market demands.
  • Assist in the production of sample formulations and compounds.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Engineering teams to develop new products and processes, ensuring scalability for commercial production.
  • Analyze and interpret physical, thermal, weatherable, paintable, and analytical test data, organizing it for customer presentation (e.g., Certification Packages, Technical Data Sheets).
  • Authorize the distribution of samples for customer testing and evaluations.
  • Compile and disseminate regular reviews; maintain project lists, monthly reports, and other documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards concerning product formulations (e.g., UL, FDA, NAFTA, NSF).
  • Engage with suppliers to identify and assess new or enhanced raw materials.
  • Participate in weekly meetings to prioritize and coordinate sample production.
  • Attend sales meetings and regular teleconferences.
  • Contribute to the development of procedures and work instructions to meet corporate compliance with established management system requirements.
  • Execute additional duties and responsibilities in support of projects, including injection molding of test specimens, material testing, and color evaluation assistance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Material Science, or Chemistry.
  • A minimum of 2 years of technical experience in thermoplastics or polymers is highly desirable.
  • Background in polymer chemistry through education or training is preferred.
  • Proficient in basic computer software, particularly spreadsheets.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

Work Environment:

This position operates within a manufacturing/plant setting alongside an office environment.
