JOB OVERVIEW

Wood is seeking a Systems Completion Engineer - Unit Manufacturing Representative (UMR) with a strong background in the oil and gas commissioning sector, particularly in Chemical facilities.

Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: The UMR will assist the Systems Completion team in developing deliverables and executing tasks during integration and commissioning phases. Key responsibilities include:
  • Acting as the engineering link between project, construction, and manufacturing teams during significant plant expansion initiatives.
  • Conducting work under various levels of supervision, applying technical knowledge to evaluate designs, troubleshoot issues, assess performance, and enhance manufacturing processes while coordinating startup activities for site capacity expansions.
  • Collaborating with project and manufacturing teams to ensure adherence to project scope, timelines, cost management, and achieving operational and maintenance goals.
KEY OBJECTIVES: Promote safety awareness; lead multi-disciplinary technical teams; plan and coordinate work in a simultaneous operations environment; possess technical expertise relevant to the design and operation of assigned systems while liaising with equipment engineers, vendors, construction personnel, and operations teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

CRITICAL SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: Understand and implement Wood's Safety Policies and Procedures throughout all project phases. A strong focus on personal and team safety is essential.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead or participate in the formation and processes of the Startup team.
  • Engage in pre-construction engineering reviews and project planning.
  • Monitor construction progress and assist in resolving construction and installation challenges.
  • Oversee the OCR/SCR process to facilitate the safe startup of new processes and equipment.
  • Contribute to change management for engineering and construction projects.
  • Assist the Commissioning Manager in planning, development, and reporting.
  • Develop and review detailed commissioning and startup procedures.
  • Write and revise Function Test Procedures.
  • Conduct Spares Review (SPIR forms).
  • Perform Tag Quality Review.
  • Execute TTM specific verifications.
  • Complete package check sheets.
  • Manage documentation for project turnover to manufacturing.
  • Maintain work practices aligned with the Corporate Code of Ethics and Values, prioritizing health, safety, quality, and environmental considerations above schedule and cost.
  • Learn and apply departmental, safety, and manufacturing technical methods and procedures efficiently. Provide support to enhance manufacturing processes and equipment reliability.
  • Champion safety initiatives and drive the startup team's safety performance.
  • Collaborate with project, manufacturing, and startup teams to identify and resolve design and construction issues affecting project progress. Analyze data, assess alternatives, and provide recommendations.
  • Engage in professional development programs as required.
  • Provide regular updates to the UMC supervisor on progress and PIP goals.
  • Support operator skill development and training in preparation for process startup.
QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIREMENTS: Candidates should be proactive self-starters with strong problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities are essential for interfacing with Construction and Operations Teams. A comprehensive understanding of offshore oil and gas processing facilities is required, including:
  • Expertise in reading and interpreting P&IDs, Piping Isometrics, and Production Flow Diagrams.
  • Knowledge of gas compression and rotating equipment.
  • Familiarity with process flow equipment and pipeline systems.
  • Experience in operations and maintenance of production facilities.
  • Proficiency in leak testing and chemical flushing of production systems.
  • Ability to maintain reports and records.
  • Understanding of Permit to Work Systems.
  • Project management skills, including cost, time, and scope management.
  • Awareness of occupational hazards and standard safety procedures.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in plant commissioning.
  • BS in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Extensive O&G Commissioning and Start-Up/SC experience (10+ years).
  • Practical knowledge of manufacturing and trade experience.
  • Thorough understanding of plant safety standards, construction, and engineering standards, including PSM requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering methodologies and tools.
  • Strong skills in team leadership, communication, and interpersonal relations.
