JOB SUMMARY

Wood is seeking a Systems Completion Engineer - Unit Manufacturing Representative (UMR) with expertise in the oil and gas commissioning sector, particularly in Chemical facilities.

WORK AUTHORIZATION: Candidates must have the legal right to work in the US without sponsorship from Wood.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: The UMR will assist the Systems Completion team in creating deliverables and executing tasks during integration and commissioning phases. Key responsibilities include:
  • Acting as the engineering liaison among project, construction, and manufacturing teams during significant plant expansion initiatives.
  • Executing tasks under technical and administrative supervision, applying technical knowledge to evaluate designs, troubleshoot issues, and enhance manufacturing processes while coordinating startup activities for site capacity expansions.
  • Collaborating with project and manufacturing teams to ensure adherence to project scope, timelines, cost management, and operational effectiveness.
KEY OBJECTIVES: Demonstrating a strong commitment to safety; leading multi-disciplinary technical teams; planning and coordinating work in a simultaneous operations environment; possessing technical expertise relevant to the design and operation of assigned systems; and liaising with equipment engineers, vendors, construction personnel, and operations teams.

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

SAFETY COMMITMENT: Understanding and implementing Wood's Safety Policies and Procedures throughout all project phases is crucial. Personal and team safety awareness is essential.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leading or participating in the formation of startup teams and their processes.
  • Engaging in pre-construction engineering reviews and project planning.
  • Monitoring construction progress and addressing installation challenges.
  • Overseeing the OCR/SCR process to facilitate safe startup of new processes and equipment.
  • Contributing to change management for engineering and construction projects.
  • Assisting the Commissioning Manager with planning, development, and reporting.
  • Creating and reviewing detailed commissioning and startup procedures.
  • Writing and revising function test procedures.
  • Conducting spares reviews and tag quality assessments.
  • Performing TTM-specific verifications and package check sheets.
  • Managing documentation for project turnover to manufacturing.
  • Upholding work practices aligned with the Corporate Code of Ethics and Values, prioritizing health, safety, quality, and environmental considerations.
  • Gaining knowledge of departmental safety and manufacturing methods to perform assigned tasks efficiently.
  • Leading safety initiatives and enhancing the safety performance of the startup team.
  • Collaborating with project, manufacturing, and startup teams to identify and resolve design and construction issues affecting project progress.
  • Participating in professional development programs as necessary.
  • Providing regular updates to the UMC supervisor on progress and goals.
  • Supporting operator skill development and training in preparation for process startup.
QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate should be a proactive self-starter with strong problem-solving skills. Excellent communication abilities and a collaborative mindset are required to work effectively with Construction and Operations Teams. A comprehensive understanding of offshore oil and gas processing facilities is necessary, including:
  • Expertise in interpreting P&IDs, Piping Isometrics, and Production Flow Diagrams.
  • Knowledge of gas compression and rotating equipment.
  • Familiarity with process flow equipment and pipeline systems.
  • Experience in operations and maintenance of production facilities.
  • Proficiency in leak testing and chemical flushing of production systems.
  • Skills in report writing and records management.
  • Understanding of Permit to Work Systems.
  • Project management capabilities, including cost, time, and scope management.
  • Awareness of occupational hazards and standard safety procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in plant commissioning.
  • A degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) is required.
  • Extensive experience in O&G commissioning and startup (10+ years).
  • A practical understanding of manufacturing and trade practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of plant safety standards and PSM requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering methodologies and tools.
  • Strong skills in team leadership, communication, and interpersonal relations.
