POSITION TITLE:

Assistant Professor - Printmaking

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Department of Visual Arts at the University of Wyoming is excited to welcome applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor position in Printmaking. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing a dynamic Printmaking studio and curriculum. The role requires expertise in a variety of Printmaking techniques, including but not limited to lithography, relief, intaglio, screen printing, letterpress, and book arts. Candidates should possess a robust background in teaching Printmaking, familiarity with diverse pedagogical methods, and experience in a Liberal Arts educational setting. Additionally, the successful applicant may be called upon to teach courses in related areas such as Drawing or Foundations.

We are looking for individuals who demonstrate strong communication skills, the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, and experience engaging with a diverse student body. Active participation in scholarly and creative endeavors is expected. The candidate will implement inclusive classroom policies and utilize various instructional methods, including in-person, online, and hybrid formats.

The Printmaking program emphasizes both technical proficiency and artistic expression, encouraging students to explore both traditional and innovative approaches to the medium. Students will engage in comprehensive studio practice and research, gaining foundational knowledge and technical skills in Printmaking. The curriculum will incorporate historical and contemporary perspectives through various resources, including collaborations with visiting artists and participation in professional conferences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Deliver a 2/3 course load during the academic year, covering courses such as Printmaking I, Printmaking II, Advanced Printmaking, Book Arts, and Special Topics in Screen Printing.
  • Oversee the Printmaking studio, ensuring the maintenance of equipment and management of supplies.
  • Participate in departmental, college, and university committees.
  • Engage in ongoing creative research at both regional and national levels.
  • Supervise work-study students and assist in training post-undergraduate assistants.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to students pursuing majors and minors in the department.
REMOTE WORK POLICY:

This position requires on-campus presence to effectively support the academic community.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Master of Fine Arts degree.
  • At least two years of teaching experience in higher education focused on Printmaking.
  • Proven professional practice and proficiency in a variety of Printmaking techniques.
  • Ability to manage and maintain Printmaking studio equipment and materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking is preferred.
  • Two years of post-graduate teaching experience is preferred.
  • Ability to teach in secondary areas such as Drawing or Foundations.
  • Active involvement in scholarly and creative activities.
  • Experience with professional organizations and student engagement in conferences.
  • Ability to mentor students from diverse backgrounds effectively.
