POSITION TITLE:
Assistant Professor - Criminal Justice Studies
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The Department of Criminal Justice and Sociology is seeking applications for a tenure-track role in Criminal Justice. This position is intended for the Assistant Professor level, with a preferred focus on cybercrime and the interplay between criminal justice and modern technologies. Other specializations that enhance the department's scope or build on existing strengths will also be considered. The ideal candidate will be prepared to teach essential courses in our curriculum, including Comparative Criminal Justice, Criminal Courts and Process, and Ethics. The teaching load at the University of Wyoming consists of five courses per academic year, with potential for course reductions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver five courses throughout the academic year
- Engage in active scholarly research and professional growth
- Guide and mentor students
- Contribute service to the department, college, and university
As assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
The Assistant Professor position requires a specialization in cybercrime and/or the relationship between criminal justice and emerging technologies, along with the capability to teach courses such as Comparative Criminal Justice, Criminal Courts and Process, and Ethics.
REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:
This role is integral to campus operations and necessitates the successful candidate's presence on campus.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- A Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a related discipline is required at the time of appointment. A Juris Doctorate alone does not meet the qualifications.
- Evidence of - or potential for - peer-reviewed scholarly publications.
- Demonstrated teaching experience in Criminal Justice at the collegiate or university level (experience as a teaching assistant qualifies).
- Capability to design and teach undergraduate courses in cybercrime or related areas.
- Ability to instruct in areas of demand within our curriculum, including Comparative Criminal Justice, Criminal Courts and Process, and Ethics.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain an active research agenda leading to peer-reviewed publications.
- Excellence in teaching at the collegiate or university level.
- Ability to effectively contribute to the undergraduate program delivery through traditional and online education.
- Commitment to undergraduate advising and service.
- Potential for involvement in grant activities.
