About the Position

The University of Wyoming Department of Visual Arts invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Printmaking position. The successful candidate will have the ability to oversee a comprehensive Printmaking classroom and curriculum, teaching a range of Printmaking processes including lithography, relief, intaglio, screen printing, letterpress, paper making, book binding, and be familiar with both analog and digital processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a 2/3 course load for the academic year, including ART 3510: Printmaking I, ART 4510: Printmaking II, ART 4520: Advanced Printmaking, ART 3500: Book Arts, and ART 4620: Special Topics: Screen Printing.
  • Oversee and maintain the Printmaking area classroom and equipment, managing the inventory and purchase of materials and supplies.
  • Serve on department, college, and university committees.
  • Maintain strong creative research at regional and national levels.
  • Work closely with work-study students and post-undergraduate assistants whose assistance with technical tasks is crucial.
  • Serve as advisor/mentor to major and minor students in the department.
Requirements
  • Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking or a related field.
  • Two years of higher education teaching experience in printmaking.
  • Demonstrated active professional practice and proficiency in a range of studio techniques applicable to Printmaking curricula.
  • Ability to oversee and maintain Printmaking Area classroom and equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere and coordinate teaching with instructors.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking preferred.
  • Demonstrated two years higher education teaching experience post-graduation is preferred.
  • Proficiency in and ability to teach in secondary areas of Drawing and/or Foundations.
  • Ongoing and active engagement in scholarly, creative, and/or professional activities.
  • Experience in professional organizations, taking students to professional conferences, and overseeing student printmaking clubs/organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise, mentor, and support students from a variety of backgrounds and experiences in the classroom and department.
