JOB TITLE:
Assistant Professor specializing in Wyoming and the American West
OBJECTIVE:
The Department of History at the University of Wyoming is excited to invite exceptional candidates for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor.
We are looking for scholars with expertise in any historical period or thematic focus that would enhance our department's offerings.
The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a vigorous research agenda and actively participate in a vibrant academic community, contributing to both undergraduate and graduate programs.
The University of Wyoming offers substantial resources to support this role, including access to the American Heritage Center, the Coe Library Special Collections, and strong partnerships with regional institutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The faculty member will teach a 2x3 course load, which includes the foundational course "Wyoming History" in both fall and spring semesters.
Additionally, the faculty member will offer courses at the undergraduate or graduate level focusing on Western and/or Wyoming history, along with opportunities to teach in their specific area of expertise.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
This faculty member will also play a vital role in the Department of History's funded M.A. program by supervising graduate students. Participation in undergraduate career advising and departmental service is also anticipated.
REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:
This position is essential for campus operations and requires the successful candidate to be present on campus.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in History by the time of appointment.
