Department Overview:

The Office of Strategic Infrastructure, Planning & Construction is dedicated to delivering exceptional and sustainable construction initiatives that align with the objectives of each campus.

Role Summary:

Reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor for Strategic Infrastructure, the Deputy Vice Chancellor is responsible for overseeing programs related to facilities life cycle management, including planning, design, construction, real estate, and engineering. This role involves ensuring compliance with safety regulations and managing all associated administrative tasks.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited institution, along with a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in a large organization. A professional license as an Engineer or Architect is preferred, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates effective management skills in high-stakes environments.

Key Competencies:

  • Proven experience in leading large-scale capital programs from inception to completion.
  • Extensive knowledge of financial management in capital projects, including budgeting and resource allocation.
  • Expertise in planning, urban design, and space management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster effective working relationships.
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in relevant software applications for data management and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Workload Management: Oversee the development and coordination of facilities master plans and capital improvement programs.
  • Team Leadership: Foster a culture of accountability and high performance within the team.
  • Standards and Best Practices: Ensure the establishment and maintenance of facilities standards across all campuses.
  • Support to Vice Chancellor: Act on behalf of the Vice Chancellor as needed and collaborate with various stakeholders.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM

Security Clearance: This position is classified as Security Sensitive.
