Overview:
The Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Division at Montefiore Medical Center is renowned for its commitment to advancing treatment methodologies for various vascular conditions, including aortic aneurysms, carotid artery disease, and peripheral arterial disease. Our state-of-the-art non-invasive diagnostic vascular laboratory provides comprehensive solutions for all vascular disorders, utilizing cutting-edge imaging technology to ensure precise patient care.

Position Summary:
The Ultrasound Technician is responsible for conducting a wide array of Vascular Ultrasound diagnostic tests. This includes performing color Doppler evaluations of the carotid and peripheral arterial systems, as well as plethysmographic assessments of arterial circulation. The role involves preliminary reporting and communication of findings to referring physicians, along with conducting bedside studies in various clinical settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute high-quality diagnostic examinations with accuracy.
  • Facilitate training and mentorship for new staff and students.
  • Engage with referring physicians and collaborate with fellow technologists.
  • Discuss diagnostic results with the Technical and Medical Directors.
  • Maintain a consistent volume of studies performed daily.
  • Ensure the laboratory is stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Adhere to established Vascular Lab workflows.
  • Deliver exceptional patient care throughout all procedures.
  • Propose and conduct additional relevant studies based on initial findings.
  • Provide preliminary interpretations of diagnostic results.
  • Assess patient conditions to determine appropriate bedside study requirements.
  • Independently perform vascular studies utilizing advanced ultrasound technology.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma is mandatory.
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT, RVS) certification with at least one year of clinical experience in ultrasound diagnostics is required.
  • BLS certification is essential.
  • Familiarity with pulse volume recordings, segmental pressures, and Doppler waveform analysis is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of ultrasound physics, instrumentation, and vascular testing procedures.
  • Proficient in using PC applications and Vascular databases.
  • Experience with all diagnostic duplex ultrasound procedures and ultrasound-guided techniques is beneficial.

Work Schedule:
The position operates during standard business hours with occasional variations and weekend shifts as necessary to meet departmental needs.
