The Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center is renowned for its advancements in treating various vascular disorders, including abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysms, carotid artery disease, and peripheral arterial disease. Our non-invasive diagnostic vascular laboratory provides comprehensive solutions for all vascular conditions. Here, our vascular surgeons and technologists utilize cutting-edge treatment and imaging technologies to deliver the precise care our patients deserve.
The Ultrasound Technician is responsible for conducting all Vascular Ultrasound diagnostic tests, including color Doppler evaluations of the carotid and peripheral systems, as well as plethysmographic assessments of arterial circulation. This role involves preliminary reporting and communication of study results to referring physicians, along with performing bedside studies in various clinical settings.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct accurate and high-quality diagnostic examinations.
- Assist in the training and education of students and new technologists.
- Engage with referring physicians and collaborate with team members.
- Review diagnostic findings with the Technical/Medical Director.
- Maintain an appropriate volume of studies per day.
- Ensure the availability of necessary supplies and equipment.
- Adhere to the Vascular Lab workflow protocols.
- Deliver exceptional patient care throughout the examination process.
- Propose and perform additional relevant studies based on initial findings.
- Provide initial interpretations of diagnostic results.
- Determine the necessity of bedside studies based on patient conditions.
- Independently perform vascular studies using advanced ultrasound equipment.
- High School Diploma is required.
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT, RVS) with at least one year of clinical ultrasound experience in venous, carotid, arterial, and abdominal testing.
- BLS certification is mandatory.
- Knowledge of pulse volume recordings, segmental pressures, and Doppler waveform analysis or completion of a CAAHEP vascular sonography program.
- Strong understanding of ultrasound physics, instrumentation principles, and vascular testing modifications.
- Proficient in PC operation and use of Vascular databases.
- Familiarity with all diagnostic duplex ultrasound procedures performed in the department.
The working hours for this position are from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with varying days and alternate weekends. Flexibility to cover additional areas as needed by the department is essential.
