Faculty Research Librarian

The Harvard Law School Library (HLSL) is seeking a highly skilled Faculty Research Librarian to provide expert research support to the Law School faculty and students. As a key member of the Faculty Services team, you will be responsible for conducting in-depth research in law and law-adjacent disciplines, collaborating with faculty to design and implement research projects, and providing general reference services.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct extensive, in-depth research in law and law-adjacent disciplines for law faculty
- Partner with faculty to assist with and design research projects that meet their research needs
- Work collaboratively with the Faculty Services team to provide comprehensive research support
- Participate in general reference services, including desk hours, research consultations, collection development, and developing research guides and presentations
- Teach in first-year and upper-level research classes
- ABA accredited JD or equivalent foreign degree or Masters Degree in Library and/or Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution
- At least 1 year of legal reference experience
- Experience conducting complex research on a wide variety of platforms
- Strong commitment to customer service
- Effective oral and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member in a fast-paced environment
- Expertise in advancements in research and legal research technologies
- Paid Time Off: 3-4 weeks of accrued vacation time per year, 12 accrued sick days per year, 12.5 holidays plus a Winter Recess in December/January, 3 personal days per year, and up to 12 weeks of paid leave for new parents who are primary care givers
