Job Summary

The Harvard Law School Library (HLSL) is seeking a highly skilled Faculty Research Librarian to provide expert research support to the Law School faculty and students. As a key member of the Faculty Services team, you will be responsible for conducting in-depth research in law and law-adjacent disciplines, collaborating with faculty to design and implement research projects, and providing general reference services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct extensive, in-depth research in law and law-adjacent disciplines for law faculty
  • Partner with faculty to assist with and design research projects that meet their research needs
  • Work collaboratively with the Faculty Services team to provide comprehensive research support
  • Participate in general reference services, including desk hours, research consultations, collection development, and developing research guides and presentations
  • Teach in first-year and upper-level research classes
Requirements
  • ABA accredited JD or equivalent foreign degree or Masters Degree in Library and/or Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution
  • At least 1 year of legal reference experience
  • Experience conducting complex research on a wide variety of platforms
  • Strong commitment to customer service
  • Effective oral and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member in a fast-paced environment
  • Expertise in advancements in research and legal research technologies
