Key Responsibilities

The Physics and Mathematics Librarian will be responsible for the following key areas:

  • Collection Development and Management

    Develop and implement collection development strategies to ensure that the library's collections meet the research and learning needs of faculty, students, and staff in the physics and mathematics departments.

    Collaborate with faculty and departmental administrators to identify and acquire materials that support the curriculum and research needs of the departments.

    Manage the library's collection development budget and make recommendations for the purchase of new materials.

  • Research and Learning Support

    Provide research and learning support services to faculty, students, and staff in the physics and mathematics departments.

    Develop and deliver research and learning support programs, workshops, and services to support the research and learning needs of the departments.

    Collaborate with faculty and departmental administrators to develop and implement research and learning support initiatives that align with the departments' research and learning goals.

  • General Library Responsibilities

    Represent the Cabot Science Library in internal and external committees and organizations.

    Collect statistics and report on library use.

    Contribute to library strategic planning, policy, and procedure discussions.

    Support and enforce all library security protocols.

    Participate in special projects.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have a strong background in physics and mathematics, as well as experience in collection development and management, research and learning support, and library administration.

The candidate will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work effectively with faculty, students, and staff in a fast-paced academic environment.
